'Daily Show' Salutes Trump Over His 'Statesman'-Like Response To Los Angeles Wildfires

The Daily Show” correspondent Desi Lydic on Wednesday offered a blunt reminder of Donald Trump’s “leadership during times of crisis” after he blamed the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles on California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).

“Because while everyone else is deeply concerned with what’s going on in Los Angeles right now, Trump is handling the tragedy like the statesman that he is,” Lydic said of the president-elect’s response to the wildfires, which have wreaked havoc on multiple LA neighborhoods and killed at least five people.

Trump, in a rant shared to his Truth Social platform Wednesday, referred to the governor as “Newscum” before accusing him of mismanaging California’s water by refusing to let “millions of gallons of water” flow to “many parts” of the state.

Trump’s blame game on social media got a chorus of boos from “The Daily Show” crowd before Lydic chimed in.

“In the midst of chaos, Donald Trump is taking action by opening up the strategic nickname reserves. Thank you, sir,” she said as she looked into the camera and sarcastically gave a salute.
