Cynthia Erivo Brings Elphaba Energy to 2024 CFDA Awards in Witchy Hooded Gown and Incredibly Elaborate Talon Nails
The actress is hosting this year's star-studded ceremony honoring Erykah Badu
If anyone's going to bring wicked style to the red carpet, it's Cynthia Erivo.
The Wicked star, 37, has been all over the world (and by that we mean, from the 2024 Olympics in Paris to the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles) paying tribute to the iconic Elphaba, who she plays in the upcoming movie musical with Ariana Grande (the film, directed by Jon Chu, hits theaters on Nov. 22).
And she hasn't put a stop to her fashionable Wicked-inspired streak just yet.
On Oct. 28, the award-winning actress and singer stepped out in New York City to host the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards, where she turned heads in a dramatic look.
Erivo wore a Zac Posen-designed custom Gap hooded black gown with a mermaid silhouette, plunging neckline and long sleeves. She accessorized with a gold necklace with just a tiny pop of green (of course), as well as bold earrings and rings, all by Tiffany & Co.
The star of her look, though, was her incredibly long nails, intricately decorated as the centerpiece of her outfit.
Though tonight will mark Erivo's first time hosting the ceremony, presented by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Amazon Fashion, she has attended in recent years.
In 2023, she wore a tuxedo gown with a bow tie, and in 2018 she rocked a one-sleeve tweed minidress with collared button-up shirt underneath.

In a statement shared to the CFDA website, Erivo opened up about her special connection to N.Y.C., which is also home of the fashion organization.
“As a born and bred Londoner, I can safely say that the UK has its own sense of style, but when I moved to New York almost 10 years ago, I was welcomed into the open arms of the New York fashion industry,” she shared. “When I was asked to serve as the host of the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion, I naturally did not hesitate to say yes. I cannot wait to celebrate the nominees and honorees in a room full of people I am inspired by.”
This year's ceremony will see legendary singer-songwriter Erykah Badu receive the Fashion Icon award at the American Museum of Natural History.
