Couple Gets Married in Ketchup-Themed Wedding: See all the Condiment Décor Details! (Exclusive)
"My jaw dropped and so did everyone else's," the bride and groom's photographer tells PEOPLE
Who knew a condiment could be classy?
Joyce and Roy's Italian wedding was surrounded by loved ones, red wine — and ketchup. Set in the rolling hills of Tuscany, the two tied the knot on June 7 in an intimate, tomato-inspired ceremony at Villa di Striano in Florence, Italy.
During her reception reveal, the bride told her photographer, Carmela Joy, that her favorite condiment was ketchup, hence her wedding vision was born.
"Joyce was telling me that ketchup is her favorite so she wanted to incorporate that into the guest table," Joy recalls to PEOPLE. "She was very much a bride who wanted to make her day unique to them which I absolutely LOVED."
The nuptials consisted of just the couple's closest family and friends, who all came from out of town for the wedding weekend. The 22 attendees all ate outside at a long dinner table illuminated by candlelight and twinkling string lights from above.
Joyce and Roy didn't have a traditional ceremony, and instead exchanged vows privately before joining their guests during cocktail hour for appetizers and wine.
On the table were several nods to ketchup, including dipping trays that looked like Heinz tomato ketchup bottles, mini "tasty tomato ketchup" bottles containing a shot of limoncello and ceramic tomatoes with custom notes inside for each guest that were printed on mock ketchup labels.
For decor was tomato cans with uncooked spaghetti noodles sticking out. Sprawled across the table was an array of red, yellow and green peppers and tomatoes. Florals and dinnerware also incorporated pops of red, yellow and green.
"My jaw dropped and so did everyone else's," Joy says of her reaction to the decorations. "All the guests immediately took their phones out to take photos of the tablescape and setting! I had never seen anything tomato or ketchup themed so it was so cool to see it beautifully put together in a tasteful way."
Hanging on each chair were custom tote bags that guests got to take their goodies home in.
The dinner menu was just as bold. Zucchini flowers filled with buffalo ricotta cheese on cream and black truffle potatoes acted as a starter. The second course was risotto with chianti wine reduction seasoned with shallots, bacon and crispy leek. For the main course, guests had a gran pezzo of beef cooked with rosemary roasted potatoes and zucchini flan.
For dessert, everyone enjoyed lemon and sage sorbet alongside millefoglie with chantilly cream and red fruits. The layered puff pastry is a go-to dessert for any Tuscan celebration.
"Free will is so interesting hahaha," the top comment on the photographer's TikTok video of the wedding reads. Other commenters said they now want a condiment-themed wedding, including a few votes for ranch, sriracha and honey mustard.

Another unique element of the wedding was that the bride and groom engaged in a mozzarella making class with their guests that morning.
Surrounded by the villa's beautiful greenery, everyone handmade fresh mozzarella while wearing aprons with a ketchup bottle spilling out drops of ketchup and red hearts. The chef even made the couple cheese rings.
"Love you from head to-ma-toe," a neon tomato sign read at the wedding dance party later that night.
