Outrage after couple cancel wedding but keep the money for their honeymoon

Guests who were supposed to be attending their friend’s wedding were left furious after receiving a lengthly message from the bride informing them that they’d decided to call the whole thing off.

The couple had already raked in over $43,000 (US$30,000) from generous friends and family and didn’t give the guests the option to take their hard-earned cash back.

Friends and family angrily responding to the bride’s news that they would, in fact, be spending the money on their honeymoon.

It didn’t go down well.

“Hi invitees to the wedding.” The post cheerily started.

It goes on to explain how the bride, Pam and groom, Edward, have made the decision to cancel their wedding and reschedule it at a different time when they’re “in a better place”.

The bride tells the guests that they’ve “raised” over $43k for their wedding and assured people that the money wouldn’t be spent in recklessly, but instead it’ll go towards their upcoming honeymoon.

“After we regain financial stability and hold calm in our hearts after a honeymoon, we will announce a new wedding date and re-open our money fund for further gifts. Weddings are expensive!”

The tweet, which is was audacious some people have called it out as being fake, also shares the replies family members gave the bride in response to her announcement.

One uncle, who gave the bride and groom $17,000 (US$12,000) posted underneath the initial comment demanding his money back after the pair didn’t respond to his calls and texts.

“You are to return my more than generous $12,000 donation on behalf of the [blanked out] family in one week. If on 11/13/2019 I don’t see that money, IN CASH, in my bank account, I will be seeing you in court.”

Most of Pam’s family members were less than enthused about the change of plans, but one bridesmaid called out the barrage of messages to ask them to “consider Pam’s feelings” in all of this.

However, since the post went viral, many people have began to question the legitimacy of the thread.

According to Buzzfeed, the screenshots were posted to the website CapturedIt.club, which is reportedly a site that promises to deliver "social media drama."

It was also noted that there were absolutely no likes or reactions on the screenshots, which seems bizarre given how contentious the conversation is.
