Country Music Fans Are Sending Prayers to Thomas Rhett After He Breaks His Ankle at Concert
Thomas Rhett made an unexpected appearance in Nashville on April 14, but unfortunately the biggest surprise was a broken ankle. The country music star joined Forrest Frank on stage at Bridgestone Arena for a performance of their song "Nothing Else," but Thomas Rhett left in a wheelchair.
The "Marry Me" singer shared a video of the incident on social media. He's seen popping up from the audience and running to the stage, falling in the process. Someone helps him regain his footing, and then he and Forrest sing and dance as Thomas Rhett clearly hops on just one foot.
Then, the video shows him being pushed in a wheelchair by his wife Lauren Akins with his ankle wrapped up in a brace. He captioned the video, "How I broke my ankle at a Forrest Frank concert" and wrote, "@hiforrest told me to pull up and I left in a wheelchair."
He seemed to be in good spirits after the injury, telling the camera, "You know, sometimes you need to sing at a Forrest Frank concert and break an ankle in the process. I gave my all for Tennessee this week." Lauren laughed as she pushed him offstage, saying, "Go Vols. Send it, send it for Jesus." And he replied, "You have no mercy, at all. It's unbelievable."
Fans left messages like, "Lauren's laugh 😂 Feel better soon TR!" and "Bro broke his ankle and performed like nothing happened. That’s a pros pro." Forrest added, "ABSOLUTE CHAMPION."
Another commenter said, "And just another example of how great of an entertainer you are!! 🤩🤩🤩 Prayers for a speedy recovery!" and one chimed in with, "praying for a quick recovery!! ❤️🫶🏻"
Here's hoping Thomas Rhett will be back on his feet soon! He's due to kick off his Better in Boots tour in June.
