Corinna Brown: "I wish one of my extra talents was being a hairstylist"
Here at The Cosmo Black Beauty Hub we absolutely do not gatekeep, so when we get a chance to quiz some of our favourite Black women about their go-to beauty products tips and treatments we don't hold back– after all, that's how our Little Black Beauty Book Franchise was born. It's all the tea on our favourite star's life in beauty, served hot.
This week we caught up with Corinna Brown from Netflix's Heartstopper...
My Little Black Beauty Book: Corinna Brown
What does Black beauty mean to you?
It means so many things! It's versatility, natural beauty, good hair, good skin! It's a lot - and that's what I think I love about it.
Favourite beauty product?
Cocoa butter! That's all you need. Classic cocoa butter the type that if it's cold it's an ice block and if it's hot it's melting. Slap it on and you're good to go.

What’s you wash-day routine?
I'll double shampoo with Curlsmith shampoo and then I use Hair Mayonnaise, put a plastic bag on my hair and long it on for maybe an hour. Then I'll rinse it out and put a leave in conditioner on and let my hair air-dry. Then I go to my mum's house for her to do it.

Go to hair salon/hairdresser?
My mum is my hairdresser. I've never been to an actual hairdresser's, so thanks, Jackie. Love you!
Have you had any bad hair experiences and if so how did that feel?
I have had too many bad hair experiences in my time. Especially working in the industry. I'm not gonna lie, sometimes you get on set and you're like [grimaces] 'urgh!'. I wish one of my extra talents was being a hairstylist.
I'm not gonna name names and I'm not gonna name the event. But I was at an event – my niece still laughs at me to this day about this – and they wanted to experiment and do something cool with my hair. And I was like, 'yeah!' because that's how I am... And they made me blue. I had blue dye in my hair. It was a washout one, but I looked like Marge Simpson.
Skincare product you can’t live without?
I love the Clinique Take the Day Off Balm.

Body treatment you love?
Apart from trusty cocoa butter, I swear by Johnson's Baby Oil for instant shine. I'm also partial to a deep tissue massage.

Your biggest beauty splurge?
It's always the day-to-day items because I'll keep buying them, so I would say my NARS concealer in Hazelnut.
Radiant Creamy Concealer
Cheapest beauty obsession?
Good sleep! That and £1 lipglosses from the hair shop– cheap and trusty.
Makeup mishaps?
Growing up, I was, and still am, very tomboyish, so don't wear too much makeup. But I remember I was going to an industry event for the first time and I did my own makeup. One of my friends told me about finishing powders, but I put the wrong one on. So the flashback was awful. In those photos, I look like I've like fell into snow.
Your makeup bag wouldn’t be the same without…
Brushes by Joy! They are amazing and then my £1 lipgloss and Fenty Gloss Bomb in Hot Chocolit.
