The mother-daughter duo previously played the same character, Sheldon Cooper's mother Mary, on different shows in "The Big Bang Theory" universe.

It's going to be a real family affair on The Conners during the final season.

Entertainment Weekly can confirm Laurie Metcalf's daughter Zoe Perry has been cast in a multi-episode arc in the seventh and final season. Perry will recur in two episodes as a cop who doesn't support Jackie's (Metcalf) idea of rejoining the police force at her age (Jackie joined Lanford P.D. for a short stint in the second season of Roseanne 30 years ago).

This isn't the first time the mother-daughter duo's careers have lined up. They previously played the same character, Sheldon's (Jim Parsons and Iain Armitage) mother Mary Cooper, on different shows in the Big Bang Theory universe. Metcalf originated the role on The Big Bang Theory, and then Perry took over as a younger version of the character on the prequel series Young Sheldon. Perry continues to play Mary in the prequel spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

Perry has appeared in the Roseanne universe already. She previously played a younger version of her mother's character Jackie in two episodes, once during season 5 and again during season 7.

Despite their familial connection — and uncanny resemblance and cadence — Perry previously told EW she still went through a "typical" audition process when succeeding her mother as Mary Cooper in the Big Bang universe. "Except that there was this other crazy layer to it," Perry said. "I went in and auditioned for the casting directors and for [executive producers] Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro. Then, the rest is my lucky history... I did run one of the scenes with her because I was curious to hear her accent doing it. Although I actually didn't have her read the lines because then that would've just stuck in my head. But I made her talk a little bit and I rewatched some of her stuff."

A revival of Roseanne, The Conners has been on the air since 2018. After celebrating its milestone 100th episode last season, ABC announced in May that the beloved show had been renewed for a final time. Like its predecessor, Roseanne, which aired from 1988 to 1997, the ABC series is about a blue-collar family struggling to make their way in the Midwest.

The final season of The Conners premieres Wednesday, March 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
