‘Completely False’: Jeff Bezos Denies He’s Marrying Lauren Sanchez in a Lavish $600 Million Aspen Wedding
Jeff Bezos is setting the record straight about his relationship with Lauren Sanchez.
The Amazon founder is squashing rumors that he was planning to spend a whopping $600 million on wedding celebrations for him and his fiancée, explaining that earlier reports about the spectacle are simply not true. The 60-year-old billionaire spoke out on X (formerly Twitter) after a post by hedge funder Bill Ackman referenced an article from The Daily Mail detailing plans for a star-studded soiree in Colorado around Christmas.

“This is not credible,” Ackman wrote on Sunday. “Unless you are buying each of your guests a house, you can’t spend this much money.”
According to the original article published by the British tabloid, Bezos and Sanchez allegedly rented out chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s namesake sushi restaurant in Aspen for pre-wedding festivities in late December. In addition, sources told the outlet that the actual ceremony was slated to take place on Kevin Costner’s sprawling 160-acre estate and individual private mansions would be rented out for guests to stay.
Bezos responded shortly after, denying the initial report. “This whole thing is completely false—none of this is happening,” Bezos wrote on X. “The old adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is even more true today than it ever has been. Now lies can get ALL the way around the world before the truth can get its pants on. So be careful out there folks and don’t be gullible.”

Bezos and Sanchez began dating in January 2019, following his separation from author and philanthropist Mackenzie Scott after 25 years of marriage. The two officially got engaged four years later in May 2023 while on vacation together in the South of France. Earlier this year, the former news anchor and journalist opened up to Vogue about the wedding planning process. “We’re still thinking about the wedding, what it’s going to be. Is it going to be big? Is it going to be overseas? We don’t know yet,” she told the magazine. “We’ve only been engaged five months!”
In November during an appearance on The Today Show, hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie pressed Sanchez further about tying the knot. “I have to say, I do have a Pinterest—I’m just like every other bride, so I do have a Pinterest board,” she added.
