Colin Jost Has 'Come a Long Way' Since ‘Humiliating’ First TV Appearance

Colin Jost may be perfectly capable of delivering a "surprising" and delightful performance on television these days, but he's "come a long way" since his debut appearance more than two decades ago.

In a newly resurfaced clip from the "Weekend Update" co-host's time competing on The Weakest Link, Jost confidently declared that August is considered part of the fall season in the northern hemisphere, which host Jimmy Fallon was delighted to laugh at him over while he sat in exasperation during a recent Tonight Show appearance.

He would have been in his early 20s when he "thought about" the answer to the question and "then said fall." As Jost, now 42, pointed out, the situation is "so much more humiliating" when you consider that he was "wearing a Harvard sweatshirt," which is, in fact, where he attended college.

"Colin Jost has come a long way since his first TV appearance on The Weakest Link over 20 years ago 🤣," the late night show joked in the caption of its TikTok upload.

As one fan pointed out, the contrasting clips were just "proof that hard work pays off," though many couldn't help but latch onto the "*chef’s kiss*" imagery of the Harvard representation and his comically wrong answer.

"The Harvard sweatshirt makes this 20x funnier 💀," one commenter said, while another joked that the liberal arts college would say, "We don't know him."

Some defended him, suggesting, "August does give fall vibes though. I can’t explain it any further."

"August = start of fall semester !" another justified.

Luckily, the moment, which ultimately earned him a whopping $5k, didn't dampen his on-camera future!
