Colin From Accounts’ Harriet Dyer Joins CBS’ DMV Sitcom Pilot

On the heels of Colin From Accounts Season 2 landing Stateside, Harriet Dyer has booked a leading role on CBS DMV comedy pilot.

Based on author Katherine Heiny’s short story, DMV is a single-camera workplace comedy set at the place everyone dreads going most. “Our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door,” says the official logline. “Good thing they have each other.”

SNL and The Goldbergs vet Tim Meadows previously was cast in the role of Gregg, a former high school English teacher who, as a DMV examiner, likes to get through the driving tests, and the day, as quickly as possible. He also has the uncanny ability to make dead-on observations of those around him.

Dyer in turn will play Colette, a driving examiner who tests the scared and nervous people, because she’s calming and patient and genuinely roots for them to pass. “Smart, self-aware, and working on herself, Colette is adorably neurotic, bad with boundaries, and often prioritizes other peoples’ feelings over her own,” reads the full character description.

Because DMV and Colin From Accounts are both CBS Studios productions, Dyer will be able to star in both if the former goes to series and the latter gets a Season 3 order.

The Aussie actress’ previous TV credits also include the NBC workplace comedy American Auto and NBC’s The InBetween.

Dana Klein (9JKL, Fresh Off the Boat) will pen the DMV pilot and executive-produce alongside Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling and Robyn Meisinger.
