Coles vs. Woolworths: Shoppers crown clear winner in best washing powder debate
Customers have a different top pick compared to the Choice experts.
In the ongoing discussion among householders about the best supermarket washing powder, shoppers have unequivocally chosen Woolworths as the clear winner, with the retailer's Ka washing pods proving overwhelmingly popular among customers.
The debate sparked within a popular social media group dedicated to sharing cleaning hacks among mums when a group member posed the question of which washing powder, between Coles and Woolworths, leaves clothes the freshest.
"Best washing powder that makes your clothes smell amazing?" the group member asked.
Without hesitation, the group flooded the post with recommendations, overwhelmingly praising Woolworths' Ka Turbocharged Laundry Capsules as their top choice.
"Ka pods," one group member exclaimed, "they smell freakin' amazing!"
"Ka pods from Woolies," another echoed the sentiment, with someone else adding, "I love the smell too!"

Amidst the enthusiastic responses, one member shared a personal anecdote of their success with Ka pods, "Have to agree. They even left a scent on my kids' dad's clothes that is a mechanic and forever covered in grease and oil."
"I binged on the Ka pods when they came out," laughed another satisfied customer.
"Ka pods are wonderful, deep cleaning and long-lasting fragrance," commented another group member.
"When they're on special," clarified another.
Seeking advice on using the Ka pods in a top loader, one member asked, "Do I put them in the dispenser or just in with the clothes?" Another group member promptly replied, "Just drop it in on top of the load."
Among the responses, other popular choices included OMO and Aldi's Trimat Laundry Powder.
"I can't go past OMO pods, 50 pack for $26 at Coles," shared another group member.
Interestingly, earlier this year, Choice conducted tests on various laundry powders, specifically assessing their effectiveness in removing tough stains and their value for money. The results shed some light on the performance of different brands.
In the category of front loaders, OMO Laundry Detergent Powder claimed the top spot with an impressive rating of 84% according to Choice experts. On the other hand, KA pods ranked lower on the list, receiving a choice expert rating of only 61%. It lost points particularly in the area of general detergency when compared to OMO.
For top loaders, Aldi's Almat emerged as the frontrunner with a rating of 62%, while KA pods received an overall rating of 45%.
