Chrissie Swan reveals her biggest exercise tip after 90kg transformation
The radio star underwent a complete life overhaul after taking up walking during Covid-19 lockdowns.
Chrissie Swan has opened up about her biggest exercise tip after fans were left stunned by her 90kg transformation.
The radio host appeared on The Project on Monday night to chat about her latest challenge, with the star aiming to walk 300km to raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation.
Speaking about staying motivated, Chrissie dropped a pretty nifty tip into the chat, saying it’s all about getting into the right mindset at the start of every day.
“I've never moved my body my whole life, ever,” she started.
“I hated sport growing up, was just not interested. And I just thought, well, that's not for me, I'm never gonna find anything that I enjoy.
“And then I started walking one day and I haven't stopped. But the biggest tip I think is don't worry about what people think about what you look like. Put your runners on first thing and then do that every single day. Regardless of what you're wearing.”
She revealed that she had been wearing a suit herself yesterday but still wore her runners underneath “because I don’t care”.
“I need to get those kilometres or, you know, I'm going to embarrass myself in front of the entire nation.”
Chrissie’s lifestyle transformation
Chrissie took up walking during Melbourne’s gruelling 112-day lockdown and previously opened up on The Imperfects podcast about how her incredible lifestyle transformation changed her life.
“I was 45 and I went, ‘I reckon I’m halfway to dying, if I’m lucky’,” she said.
“Am I happy with this going on the way it is? Am I happy with who I am with other people, am I happy with who I am for me? What do I want to change?”
This is when Chrissie decided to make the change, taking up walking to improve her physical and mental health.
”And I get emotional thinking about it because walking has absolutely changed my life,” she said through tears. “Every day I walk.”
Chrissie said it’s hard to make changes but now she’s ‘so attuned and if something feels wrong’ she knows she’s ‘going to walk on it’.
This walk could range from an hour to ‘10km every day for a month’, but in the end, she always ‘gets the answer’.
Chrissie previously revealed on The Project she'd also stopped drinking and has been sober ever since.
At the time she said she'd "recommend it" to others after not feeling her best during the first lockdown in Melbourne.
"I really am reticent to be the poster girl for sobriety because it was a decision I made for myself after giving it a fair nudge in the first lockdown last year," she told her co-hosts.
"If you're thinking, 'Oh, maybe I'm drinking a bit much or it's not helping me anymore', I think that's the biggest thing I've taken from it, is that it didn't help."
She added that the alcohol increased her feelings of anxiety in relation to the pandemic and meant she wasn't sleeping properly.
