Chris Martin ‘Will Always Be Loved’ After 'Iconic' Tribute to Taylor Swift in Vienna

Chris Martin is being applauded by fans of Taylor Swift following his recent concert in Vienna.

The Coldplay frontman took the stage at Ernst Happel Stadium in Austria's capital city with Maggie Rogers on Wednesday, Aug. 21, and surprised the sea of concertgoers with a tune that they probably wouldn't have expected to hear.

Several fan-captured videos of Martin and Rogers singing a duet-style version of the 14-time Grammy winner's hit "Love Story" have since gone viral online, with Swifties declaring the "so sweet" tribute a "full-circle moment" in more ways than one.

"If this is not good, please, please don't put it on YouTube because I don't want to get in trouble with Taylor," the 47-year-old English musician joked in one clip that started before the duo began the cover from Swift's 2008 album Fearless. "If you can sing with us, that would be wonderful. And this is a wonderful song," Martin said while strumming his guitar.

The two performers were met with enthusiasm as soon as concertgoers realized what song Martin and Rogers were about to sing, loudly cheering them on.

The applause came from far and wide as clips from the special serenade popped up on timelines of Swifties all over the globe.

"oh chris martin you will always be loved," one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote.

A second called it "a full-circle moment kinda," sharing a throwback video of the 34-year-old singing Coldplay's "Viva La Vida."

"Wait that’s sooo cute," another declared, before noting the performance is even more meaningful for Swifties in the crowd who were supposed to see the pop superstar perform in the city earlier this month before a foiled terror plot potentially targeting one of her Eras Tour performances forced her to cancel all three shows.

"I‘m seeing Coldplay tomorrow in Vienna with my friend & we were supposed to see Taylor in Vienna on N 1 & 2. If he plays it tomorrow too I will bawl my eyes out," the fan added.

Similarly, someone else wrote: "Thank you so much for this. It means world to all of us! Vienna Swifties!"

Others dubbed the cover "iconic" and something so wholesome that it made them "cry."

While Swift didn't publicly comment on Martin and Rogers' duet at the time of writing, she did break her silence on the "devastation" she felt after having to cancel the Vienna concerts and the decision she made to use "silence" as a powerful tool to protect the crowds she drew at the performances which followed.

A day before the Swiftie-approved duet, the "Fortnight" songstress wrapped up the European leg of her international Eras Tour with one last show in London. After her break, the singer and all of her crew will head to Canada for a series of final concerts in Toronto and Vancouver this fall.

As for Martin, he's slated to perform with Coldplay for three more shows in Vienna this weekend before taking the Music of the Spheres tour to Ireland followed by Australia and then New Zealand, where the band will conclude their sold-out tour in November.
