They’re the Hollywood friends who swapped the bright lights of Tinseltown for the laid back beaches of Byron Bay.

And now Chris Hemsworth and Matt Damon have once again lived up to their down-to-earth reputations, with Chris snapping a picture with a BP service station employee in outback Western Australia.

The unlikely run-in follows a well-documented trip across the state for the pair and their families, which has seen the actors snap more than a few selfies with fans along the way.

However the BP sighting, at Carnarvon, 900km north of Perth, was their most remote yet, and provided an unforgettable work day for service station attendant Illi Lam.

“We were so shocked, but because we were in the middle of work we had to remain calm and serve the customers as well,” she told ABC North West.

“We kind of just stood there and acted cool.”

Ms Lam also revealed Chris’ penchant for pies, confirming the famously-ripped Thor actor matched his pastry purchase with tomato sauce during the pitstop.

The image appears to feature the back of one of Chris’ four-year-old twin sons, Tristan and Sasha, who he shares with wife Elsa Pataky. The couple also have a daughter, India Rose, six.

Shortly after their service station appearance, both Matt and Chris took time to chat with a small crowd of locals at the town’s airport before being whisked off to Perth.

The group were later spotted at Rottnest Island, off the city’s coast, on Thursday where this time Matt was the one to down a pie, which he reportedly washed it down with a locally brewed beer.

While Matt, his wife Lucinda and their four daughters took the ferry to the popular holiday spot, the Hemsworths opted for a private plane.

After snapping selfies with even more excited West Australians, both families hopped on a helicopter back to Perth before continuing their trip elsewhere.
