Yahoo Lifestyle Chris Hemsworth Is The Sexiest Man Alive

It’s an exclusive club. George Clooney is a member. So is Brad Pitt. Ryan Reynolds and Matthew McConaughey are in it. Bradley Cooper too (but not, controversially, Ryan Gosling). They are just some of the winners of People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive title, and now there’s a new name to add to the list: Chris Hemsworth.
Our Chris has taken the 2014 crown, with People putting his win down to (not only his dashing good looks) but also his ‘down-to-earth’ Aussie charm and the fact he’s a loving father of three. Hemsworth beat out fan-favourite Chris Pratt and British actor Idris Elba to take the top spot.
Appearing on American chat show Jimmy Kimmel to talk about the award, Hemsworth joked that he would like to thank “my parents, I guess, for putting this together.” He also joked, “[the poll] is based on an IQ test, not just the physical appearance.”
He’s not the first Australian to hold this honour, though. Hugh Jackman was People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2008 following on from his success in the X-Men trilogy.
