The Chipotle Ordering Hack Fans Call 'Life Changing'

Chipotle is known for its fresh ingredients, bold flavors and fully customizable meals. Whether you’re grabbing lunch or dinner, it’s a great spot because it caters to everyone—from health-conscious eaters to those craving something hearty and satisfying.

If you've never been to Chipotle, don't wory—the menu is simple but versatile. You start with a base: burrito, bowl, tacos or salad, then a protein, like tender chicken, savory barbacoa, spicy sofritas (tofu) or a hearty steak. Next, pile on your favorite toppings, including cilantro-lime rice, black or pinto beans, fresh salsas, guacamole, cheese and sour cream.

What makes Chipotle really shine is its customization, and this hack shared by content creator Tom Yanoshik (@tom.yanoshik) shows how easy it is to get two meals out of one simple order.

Get a Bowl and Do the Work

Tom said you can order a Chipotle bowl and turn it into a DIY burrito masterpiece. All you have to do is order a bowl and ask for a side tortilla and a side of cheese. It’s a little-known hack that gives you the best of both worlds—bowl and burrito—and you have enough food for two meals!

Start by building your bowl as you normally would, then ask for a tortilla on the side. Tom said to ask for sour cream, sauces and cheese on the side, too.

This is such a game-changer because you’re getting more food for the same price—bowl portions are usually more generous than burritos. Second, you have total control. Want to build a burrito later? Go for it. Prefer dipping chunks of tortilla into your bowl for bite-sized perfection? That’s an option too. It’s flexible, fun, and feels like a Chipotle life hack that we all need!

Fry That Burrito To Perfection

To turn a Chipotle bowl into a burrito, Tom takes about half of the bowl ingredients and rolls them up in the tortilla. Next, he sprinkles some of the cheese into a hot skillet in a rectangle shape that's about as long as the burrito. When the cheese start to bubble, he puts the burrito on top of the cheese, seam-sid down. The cheese will crisp up and seal the burrito, helping to keep it closed. Once you can slide the burrito around you know that the cheese is crispy and ready to go. Flip the burrito over and lightly brown it on the other side.

But Tom's not done yet. To finish things off, he pours some sour cream into the cup of vinaigrette, puts the lid on and gives it a good shake. He drizzles this sauce on top of the burrito and dives in.

Tom calls this a "life changing" hack and we can't really argue with that. Not only does this look delicious, but it saves you money and gives you a whole extra meal that you can enjoy the next day. We love this hack and we'll be trying it ASAP!
