'All My Children' Alum Reveals the Item He Salvaged From LA Fires
Cameron Mathison is still grieving the loss of his family's home.
As part of the tragic Los Angeles wildfires that broke out earlier this year, the All My Children alum was among those who were directly impacted by the devastation. He and his family lost their home in the Eaton Fire, which ravaged the Altadena and Pasadena neighborhoods.
But there was one special memento he was able to salvage.
During an appearance on the Tuesday, April 15 broadcast of Good Morning America, Mathison, 55, revealed that an important piece of his home was later found in the rubble.
"We actually named the house 'Casa Lula' after our kids Lucas and Leila," said the actor, who shares his two children with ex-wife Vanessa Mathison. "So we came up with Lula."
"We did a lot of renovations on this place it was like a passion project, and once we finished all that, we had this beautiful tile thing with the little name on the front," he said, noting that the same sign was miraculously recovered from the ash left by the fires.
It did have some cracks in it, but Mathison said he and the family are going to "put that back together" and "make an art piece out of it."
"Just as a memento to remember, but also to be able to move forward to the next phase, the next chapter."
