On this Wednesday’s Chicago P.D., Intelligence newcomer Kiana Cook went undercover to investigate Torres’ informant — and unbeknownst to Cook, his former lover — Gloria (guest star Yara Martinez).

Toward the end of the episode, Gloria put the pieces together and realized that her new restaurant employee is actually police. As Gloria told Cook that she was involved with a cop in the past, Burgess killed the audio feed just before Gloria said Torres’ name, protecting his secret from Voight — but not from Cook.

After bonding with Torres on their first case together, Cook will have a very strong reaction to learning that Torres withheld the truth from her about his relationship with Gloria.

“I think that Cook hates it because I think she felt like she really locked in with him, and they were talking about stuff that other people don’t know about us, and I think it hurts,” her portrayer Toya Turner tells TVLine.

But it’s not just Cook’s feelings that were hurt. Torres’ decision not to be fully honest with her also landed Cook in harm’s way, with gunshots ringing out and Gloria’s car nowhere to be seen as the hour came to a close.

“I think it hurts that he put her in that situation and [did] not tell her the tea ahead of time. Like, not only is it hurtful [considering] the connection that we had, but I also think it’s dangerous. She can lose her life over something, not knowing,” Turner says. “This is really, really, really shady, and I think that hurts, and I think from that moment, she absolutely just despises that. I think she just doesn’t like him. She doesn’t trust him anymore.”

So it seems you can say goodbye to any goodwill that Torres had earned with Cook in their first episode together, when they connected on a deeper level… that hinted at maybe even a romantic relationship down the road?

“It’s so interesting, because of course, I read some of the stuff [online]. So I’ve been hearing that, and I don’t know if there’s something romantic there,” Turner responds. “I just think we have this connection. I just think we get each other. It might be more of a kinship than something romantic.”

However, Turner admits that when she first read the script for that episode, in which Torres helped Cook out with a case, “I was like, ‘What’s going on between them? What’s happening? Are they, like, feeling each other? Like, what’s his deal? Why is he trusting her so much? He doesn’t know who she is. Like, why is he doing all this? Why is he going head first?'” Turner shares. “And I think it just has something to do with just, like, his heart and who he is, personally, that he would help someone if they needed it.”

“I don’t know where they’re going to go with that relationship, though,” Turner adds. “I thought it was more of just like this kinship. But our chemistry is crazy, though. I totally get it.”
