New Cheetos Puffs Flavor Is Inspired by an 'Iconic Dish'
A new-ish flavor of Cheetos Puffs is vying to become the most sought-after game day snack this season.
On Monday, the Frito-Lay snack brand joked that it was "only a matter of time" before the company brought back this flavor innovation, which it said was inspired by an "iconic dish" that's become somewhat of a football season staple—and no, it's not recreating five-layer bean dips, jalapeno poppers or pigs in a blanket.

To recap, Cheetos has already won over fans with its crunchy corn puff version of other comforting staples, including Buffalo Wings and Mac & Cheese. Now, it's moving on to even cheesier territory with its revival of Cheetos Puffs Cheese Pizza.
The Cheese Pizza-flavored Cheetos Puffs combines "elements of a classic cheese pizza," including cheese, tomato flavor, "and herbaceous notes of oregano and Italian seasoning," according to an official statement shared with Parade.
"While nothing can compare to a fresh hot slice, Cheetos is proud to bring fans the second-best pizza thing," a rep for the company explained. "Because there’s no shame in being #2 when you’re up against the most loved food by Gen-Z."
The corn snack may be second to the real deal, but it's the first addition to Cheetos Puffs' lineup in over a decade, per the brand. It's worth mentioning Cheese Pizza Cheetos were first released in the early 2000s but were pulled off shelves sometime in 2005 or 2006 for unspecified reasons. The revived flavor will now be available in stores nationwide that regularly stock Frito-Lay products and online through Snacks.com beginning today, Jan. 13.
This is the latest flavor innovation to come from Frito-Lay this year—which only kicked off two weeks ago—as it previously announced it would be expanding the lineup of several other of its food and snack brands with unique, limited-edition offerings, including Doritos Golden Sriracha, Nashville Hot Chicken Lays, a fan-favorite flavor from the '90s and more.
