Channing Tatum announces he's bringing Magic Mike Live to Australia

Channing Tatum has announced he’s bringing his Magic Mike Live show Down Under in May 2020.

In a move that is sure to thrill fans of both the actor and his films, Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL, the 39-year-old made the exciting announcement on December 3rd at Melbourne’s Plaza Ballroom.

In May next year, Australian fans will be able to get up close and personal with the Magic Mike Live dancers, as they bring the highly popular show to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in a luxurious custom-made super tent - The Arcadia - built especially for Australian audiences.

“We have built one of the sickest free-standing tents," Channing said at the Melbourne event, "I've never dreamed of having a circus tent full of strippers but it's happening."

The two-storey, 600-seat Arcadia has been “meticulously curated by Channing and the Magic Mike Live creative team especially for the women of Australia.”

According to Executive Producer Vincent Marini, the round-tent Arcadia will feature a full glass lobby, a heated terrace, a food hall including vegan options and just for Australian audiences, an art gallery of Channing Tatum’s photos.

The Magic Mike Live tour will feature 20 performers from around the world and will open at Melbourne’s Birrarung Marr on May 26th 2020.

"The movies did so amazingly here, we knew we had to figure out how to raise our game to do something this audience would love," Channing said in a statement.

"It took a few years for it to all come together but, man, did it come together. We have something planned for Australia that is going to blow your minds."

Magic Mike Live first debuted in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Cafe to rave reviews in 2017, with Channing telling Cosmopolitan at the time that he wanted to “create a place for women that is their gentlemen’s club, their Playboy club.”

“It shouldn’t be sleazy. [You shouldn’t feel] nervous to go there because you feel unsafe; we want to create the polar opposite of that.”

The show is touted as “a thrilling 360-degree live dance and acrobatic spectacular based on the hit movies”.

“Equal parts empowering and exhilarating, Magic Mike Live is one of the most unique, exciting and immersive live experiences in the world.”
