Celeste Barber joins Chris and Liam Hemsworth for bushfire fundraiser

She’s been hailed as an Aussie hero after raising nearly $50 million for victims of the bushfires and now Celeste Barber has taken to the stage with Australian acting royalty Chris and Liam Hemsworth in Byron Bay.

The 37-year-old comic appeared onstage at The Beach Hotel in the northern NSW town for the Make It Rain - Fund The Fires fundraiser, which was held to raise money for the NSW RFS Northern Rivers and Far North Coast Brigades.

Thor actor Chris was as seen hugging Celeste and bringing Liam in for the embrace as the trio encouraged everyone to donate from the stage

“I’ve got to say from the bottom of my heart, and I’m sure from everybody in this room, we are indebted to you guys forever,” Chris told the room on the night, according to news.com.au.

The actor took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce that he and his famous family are donating $1 million to the bushfire relief fund.

“Hi everyone. Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too,” Chris said.

“Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated. In my bio I’ve added links to support the fire fighters, organisations and charities who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time. Beyond appreciative to everyone around the world for their well wishes and donations. It really does make a difference, so dig deep! Love ya.”

Meanwhile Celeste has become a national treasure due to her massive fundraiser on Facebook which at the time of writing had raised $49,215,700.

One Australian artist has even created a mural of Celeste on a wall in Chippendale in Sydney to honour the comic’s epic efforts.
