Carrie Bickmore’s whirlwind family adventure after leaving The Project
We haven’t seen Carrie Bickmore behind The Project desk for two weeks now after she announced that she’d be leaving the popular current affairs show to try life in the UK for a few months.
The TV star hasn’t wasted time getting stuck into her travels, and sharing an update on Instagram, revealed she and her family have already jetted off to three European countries and are now ready to set themselves up more permanently in the UK.
“Our adventure is well underway, can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to over the past few weeks travelling,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself with husband Chris, and three kids Oliver, 14, Evie, seven, and Adelaide, three.
Saddled with carry-on bags, backpacks and pillows, the family are seen waving goodbye from Melbourne Airport’s departures terminal.

Carrie, 41, added that they’ve already been to France, Switzerland and Austria and “seen the most incredible places”, however that it was “perhaps too many stops for our little people!”
“Settling in to the UK now #britmorefamilyadventure or the Chriswolds’s family adventure as Chris calls it,” she finished.
Carrie’s famous friends were quick to wish her well, with Amanda Keller saying, “Can’t wait to hear!” and Zoe Foster Blake commenting, “Doin’ Life Rite”.
Radio star Kate Langbroek, who moved her own family to Italy for an extended gap year back in 2019, added, “You know I love this.”
Speaking on her afternoon HIT Network radio show with Tommy Little - which she is still doing live from London - Carrie gushed about how much she loved Switzerland, saying on Tuesday, "That is where I want my ashes scattered."
"It is heaven, it was so green and we went to this beautiful lake in Lucerne and there was snow on the mountaintops and the air was so fresh."
She added however, that as beautiful as her travels have been until now, she had forgotten how challenging it is to go away with a toddler.
"I remembered that travelling with a toddler is harder than regular life with a toddler," she said, because when you're on the go you don’t have everything you need around you. To cope, she said she turned into a ‘human snack machine’ as a way to keep the kids happy.
While you can still get your Carrie hit via the Carrie and Tommy radio show, we won't be seeing her face on TV for some time still.
The Project has not one, but two lovely ladies filling in for Carrie while she's away, with Chrissie Swan and Georgie Tunny taking up her seat while she enjoys the much deserved break.
Announcing the news on air last month, Carrie said, “Chris and I and the kids are heading off on a family adventure together.”
“We’ve been wanting to do it for a while but lots of reasons, timing hasn’t been right, but we figure it’s never going to be the perfect time to go and it’s something we really want to do before my son starts his final years at school so we’re doing term two in the UK."
She assured viewers that the move is only a temporary one that was promoted by a sweet thing her eldest child Ollie said.
"One of the things that my son Ollie said was how much he was going to miss the family time when we were coming out of lockdown, which kind of surprised us because we had a lot of family time!" Carrie said.
"But we thought, gosh, he still wants to spend time with us and while he does he only has a few years left and then he will fly away so we thought we would seize the moment and do it."
