Carrie Bickmore takes a swipe at Dave Hughes on The Project
They’ve become known for their on-air rapport after first appearing together on The Project’s desk a decade ago.
But now Carrie Bickmore has used Dave Hughes’ guest appearance on the program as a chance to make a lighthearted quip at her former colleague.
Quick quip
The comedian joined the panel alongside his wife Holly Ife to promote their new illustrated children’s book, based on the Hughesy’s often-hilarious antics with his three kids.
But as Hughesy attempted to explain how he sometimes wanted to trade in the trio ‘treating him like a joke’ and instead be ‘scary dad’, Carrie had her own analysis.
“You’ve got to be around to do that,” she joked, possibly referencing his packed work schedule.
“I’m around enough,” he quipped. However, Holly agreed with Carrie, adding how her comment was ‘true’.
But just moments after the former co-host’s trading of words, Hughesy admitted he in fact does used his laidback persona to help discipline his children.
“I used the fact they’re scared of [Holly] to my advantage...I’ve never really yelled at them.”
And while the panel’s jabs at Hughesy’s parenting were largely meant in good fun, he’s definitely kept busy since leaving his regular spot on the current affairs program in late 2013.
His latest project, The Masked Singer, is set to air on Channel 10 later this month, featuring a blockbuster line-up including Lindsay Lohan, Jackie O and Dannii Minogue.
