Editors' Picks are the Fashionista team's true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all.

I've been on quite a journey this summer, reevaluating my relationship with flip flops. Once upon a time, I was averse to anything that wasn't a cheap, flimsy plastic pair worn exclusively to, from and on the beach. Now? I can't stop adding heeled leather versions to my endless wish list.

On a recent press trip to Seattle with Nordstrom, I became an official convert: The retailer gifted me a pair of kitten-heeled thong sandals from one of its in-house brands, Open Edit. (Think of it as a little more grown-up than BP., but still very youthful and trend-aware.) I wore them three days in a row, with a variety of pieces for a range of occasions: to dinner with a linen maxi skirt and blazer, to a wine tasting with a white cotton dress, to a meeting at Nordstrom HQ with jeans and a button-down (followed by a brief, but intense, visit to Nordstrom Rack).

Standing proudly at five-foot-nothing, I always appreciate any bit of height a shoe can give me. The one-and-a-half-inch kitten heel on the Tori, as she's called, gives me that little boost, but doesn't slow me down. Plus, a leather sandal feels a tad more refined than my go-to flats or summer slides — especially in the bright white colorway I got.

Since they're $50 each, I may need to get a second pair.
