Candace Cameron Bure is revealing the emotional reason why she finally agreed to star in The Masked Singer.
During an appearance on the March 26 episode of the Whine Down with Jana Kramer podcast — following her unmasking as Cherry Blossom in season 13 of the celebrity singing competition series that same day — Bure shared that she was asked to do the show four times before she said "yes."
"I'm so terrified of singing in front of people," she explained to host Jana Kramer, who was joined by her husband Allan Russell. "But I finally was like, 'You know what? I'm just gonna do it. I'll get over the fear.' "
Bure said she also had the thought that taking part in The Masked Singer would be a perfect opportunity to pay tribute to her late friend and Full House costar Bob Saget, who died in 2022 at the age of 65.
"When I really started thinking about it, Bob was such a special part of the show, and he was in the first episode that I ever watched, not knowing it was him," she said, remembering the moment: "I'm sitting on my couch and I'm like, 'What is this crazy show?' "
She then recalled her excited reaction to realizing it was Saget behind the Squiggly Monster mask in the 2020 episode of the Fox show.
" 'That's Bob!' I was, like, jumping on my couch like Tom Cruise with Kate Holmes. I was like, 'That's Bob! This is amazing!' And I kinda just loved it from then on out because he was the introduction for me to the show."
Shortly after his unmasking in 2020, Saget joked to Entertainment Weekly how he had to keep his cool and remain tight-lipped when Bure directly asked him if he was the Squiggly Monster before his on-show unveiling had happened.
"I have a video of … Candace and she goes, 'Oh my God. That's you on The Masked Singer, isn't it?' " he recalled. "This is a video she sent me of her screaming, 'That's you! I know you! I know how you dance. I know how you sing. That's you! Oh my god, I can't believe you're on The Masked Singer. Oh my God!' "
"And I wrote back, 'No, and I don't know what you're talking about, Candace. Love you,' " Saget continued, explaining, "We signed a legal document."
At the time, Bure got some flak from fans after spoiling Saget's identity as the Squiggly Monster on social media.

In a clip on her Instagram Stories, she said she knew her Full House costar was the Squiggly Monster "the second he sang the second notes" of The Rolling Stones hit "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," per Good Housekeeping. "Literally, two notes, the second word, I was like, 'I know that voice. I know that voice,' " Bure explained in the clip.

Candace Cameron Bure as Cherry Blossom on 'The Masked Singer' in 2025During the podcast conversation, Bure also opened up about her experience of starring in The Masked Singer — including donning one of the show's over-the-top costumes. As Cherry Blossom, the actress wore a frilly pink dress and an elaborate mask adorned with cherry blossom blooms and branches.
"It's so bizarre to have such a massive costume on, and I even had, like, a great costume, and it wasn't nearly as big as some of the other ones," she told Kramer and Russell. "I loved my costume. It was awesome."
But as for her character's mask and heels, she wasn't quite as keen.
"It's just unsettling in that you're walking in huge platform shoes, and you've got this big head on, and you can't really see. And it makes the whole process that much scarier," Bure explained.
