The world has had to do a double take of 90s singer Alanis Morissette as she posed backstage at the musical Jagged Little Pill, based on her life.

The 43-year-old singer made a big statement with a new image, replacing her long dark locks for a pixie style cut, teamed with vintage sunglasses and a white blouse.

The dramatic makeover must be very recent as the singer has just finished her tour around Australia, where she rocked her signature rockstar long tresses onstage every night.

The musician has also shared snaps of her backstage in production on the show, which is named after one of her most famous songs and her 1995 album.

Many of her classic hits including You Outta Know and Ironic have been confirmed in the musical.

It will be written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody and directed by Diane Paulus.

While the world show begins in May across America, it seems people can’t get over the iconic singer’s new look with it receiving mixed reviews online.
