Brooke Shields has a big year ahead!

Having explored aging in her new memoir Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old,’ the star, 59, has revealed she’s embracing her upcoming milestone birthday.

On Monday, Jan. 13, she shared plans to spend quality time with her female friends when she turns 60 in May as she spoke on stage at the Flow Space presents An Evening with Brooke Shields event in New York City.

“I have friends that I laugh like that with. I have my boozy friends, I have my granola friends,” Shields said. “They each serve a different part of my soul and psyche.”

“I used to think they all had to know each other,” she continued. “They all had to love each other. They all had to be best friends.”

However, trying to get them all together in the same room “was just torture” for her in the past.

As her 60th birthday approaches, Shields said forcing them to celebrate with her as one large group is the last thing on her mind.

“I don't have to do that for my 60th birthday year,” the star said. “It's in May, but I'm going to take the whole year. I don't want a party again. I'm going to do something special with groups of friends.”

The actress revealed she also won’t be in a rush to wrap her birthday celebrations up once they begin.

“I'm going to try to take experiences that I really want to have and spend the time and the money on them,” she said. “And just celebrate the year of this big year that I'm walking through.”

Shields shares daughters Rowan Francis, 21, and Grier Hammond, 18, with husband Chris Hency, 60.

She confessed that she’s “learned a lot” from her kids when it comes to having difficult conversations with friends.

Having seen her own friendships change throughout the years, Shields revealed she’s “had to let go” of some people, while others have “grown out” of her.

“I don’t worry about who doesn’t write back, because I’m surrounded by incredible friends — many from high school or early phases of life,” she said.

“It’s wild how we still adore each other after all these years,” she added.

And Shields is embracing aging.

"The beauty industry wants us to chase youth, we look at regrets — what if, what if," she said on a Jan. 13 appearance on Good Morning America. "And I think it’s important to understand where you’ve been, but I think it’s really joyous to say, ‘I may not know where I’m going but I’m here.’"

The star explained that while she wants to "look my best and I want to be healthy," she's not so focused on anti-aging measures. "I’ve earned everything that I have on my face," Shields said. "And I think it’s important to pat yourself on your back and say, ‘What do you want to do now?”
