Britney Spears declared legally single after Sam Asghari divorce: Reports

Britney Spears is officially single nearly a year and a half after ex-husband Sam Asghari filed for divorce, according to reports.

According to court documents obtained by People magazine and E! News, Spears was declared legally single on Monday. The ruling falls on the pop icon's 43rd birthday (Dec. 2.).

This legal conclusion in the former couple's split comes seven months after Spears and Asghari's divorce was finalized in May. Both parties agreed to an uncontested divorce and waived their right to a trial and an appeal of the case, per documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by USA TODAY.

USA TODAY has reached out to a representative for Spears for comment.

At the time, Spears' legal team requested that the singer's property and assets with Asghari be divided per their premarital agreement, with Spears holding on to her earnings before, during and after their marriage. They also asked for spousal support to be ordered by the court as detailed in their written agreement.

Asghari filed a petition to dissolve his 14-month-old marriage to Spears in August 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple, who met while working on Spears' 2016 "Slumber Party" music video, had tied the knot in June 2022.

Spears and Asghari had no children together. Spears said she and Asghari lost a baby early in her pregnancy in May 2022.
