Brie Larson Chops Off All Her Hair into Dramatic Brunette Pixie Cut — Find Out Why
The actress debuted the major transformation on Instagram ahead of her upcoming West End performance in the drama ‘Elektra’
Brie Larson’s latest hair transformation proves her commitment to the craft.
In a couple of months, the Oscar winner, 35, will step onto the West End stage in London for the first time as the titular character in the revival of Sophocles' Elektra. And she cut off her signature long hair ahead of her debut performance, proving just how dedicated she is to the role.
On Nov. 25, the Marvel star shared new photos rocking a very cropped pixie cut with baby bangs and slightly longer face-framing sides. While the photos were taken in black and white, it appears as though she also ditched her golden blonde hair color for a darker brunette hue to complete the transformation.

In the first photo she sports a wide smile and in the second she poses with a more serious expression.
She captioned the post with “Elektra is here.”
The major haircut certainly comes as a surprise as Larson was pictured with long blonde hair in a mirror selfie she posted to Instagram the day before. She was also last publicly photographed at the Giorgio Armani Ready-to-Wear spring 2025 fashion show in N.Y.C. on Oct. 17 with her wavy blonde locks intact.

Elektra, directed by Tony nominee Daniel Fish and translated by Anne Carson, will follow Elektra in the following days of her father’s assassination, which she plans to avenge alongside her returned long-lost brother Orestes, per Playbill.
A pre-run will play at the Theatre Royal Brighton from Jan. 13-18, 2025 before moving to London’s Duke of York’s Theatre for previews starting Jan. 24 and opening night on Feb. 5. The run will continue to April 12, 2025.
Joining Larson are Stockard Channing, Marième Diouf, Greg Hicks and Patrick Vaill.
“I couldn’t be more excited to perform in this Greek drama, or in better company collaborating with Daniel Fish and Anne Carson," Larson said in a statement shared by Playbill in September. "Storytelling has always been the way I organize life, feelings, and experiences. I look forward to sharing space with the wonderful West End audience while we explore this timeless story.”
