The owners of Uncle N Me LLC, the company that organized the event, have apologized and promised to "address all concerns" raised by guests

  • Guests in Detroit are speaking out after they attended a Bridgerton-themed ball on Sunday, Sept. 22, that turned out to be a total flop.

  • Tickets for the event, which some are comparing to the the Willy Wonka-themed experience in Scotland, reportedly cost guests between $150 and $1,000.

  • The owners of the company that organized the event have apologized and promised to "address all concerns" raised by guests.

Fans say a Bridgerton-themed ball held in Detroit was a complete letdown, and some are demanding refunds after what at least one guest described as “complete chaos.”

Held at The Harmonie Club on Grand River Avenue, the Detroit Bridgerton-themed ball was said to be a night of “prizes, giveaways and more,” according to its still-active website. Attendees were also promised a chance to win the "Diamond of The Season," as well as a $2,000 cash prize for winning “best dressed.”

But upon arriving at the event on Sunday, Sept. 22, fans were thoroughly disappointed by the experience. Guests said the decor was minimal, the food was undercooked and there was an exotic dancer and stripper pole in the middle of the dance floor, according to ABC affiliate WYXZ-TV.

Tickets for the event cost between $150 and $1,000, according to The Guardian. Many guests are now seeking refunds.

"It was complete chaos today,” Amecia Fuller-Ragland told WXYZ-TV. “They never even scanned our tickets. Then there were random people that we had paid to eat dinner and there were random people all throughout the venue.”

Sunday’s event was organized by a company called Uncle N Me LLC, according to WXYZ-TV and WBCK-FM. The event was originally scheduled for Aug. 25 at the Castle Hall in Beacon Park in Detroit, according to CBS affiliate WWJ-TV, but was reportedly postponed just days prior due to problems with the venue.

Jeremy Scott and Chelsea Beard, who own Uncle N Me LLC, told WWJ-TV in June the event would include dinner, dancing, carriage rides, games and more. But according to guests, the event was anything but magical, with some comparing it to the Willy Wonka-themed experience in Scotland.

One guest created a post about the disastrous event on the r/Detroit subreddit, where they wrote they were completely “disappointed” with the experience in Detroit after attending an “absolutely beautiful” Bridgerton ball in Chicago two years ago.

But another Redditor pointed out where there may be some confusion. An official event hosted by Netflix, Shondaland (the production company behind Bridgerton) and Fever called “The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience” was previously held in Chicago and several other major cities in the United States, Canada and Australia.

In a statement obtained by WXYZ-TV, Uncle N Me LLC apologized to customers who were not satisfied with their experience, and said it is “working diligently to address all concerns to ensure that all guests have the enjoyable experience they deserve.”

"We understand that not everyone had the experience they hoped for at our most recent event Sunday night at The Harmonie Club, and for that, we sincerely apologize,” the company said. “Our intention was to provide a magical evening, but we recognize that organizational challenges affected the enjoyment of some guests. We take full responsibility and accountability for these shortcomings.”

Uncle N Me LLC also said they are “reviewing resolution options, which will be communicated shortly.” They added, “Your understanding and loyalty mean the world to us, and we are committed to doing everything in our power to make this right."

The owners of The Harmonie Club said in a separate statement that the venue is “in no way affiliated with the promoters and/or organizations that rent our venue for events such as the Bridgerton Ball.”

“While we offer support for all events i.e., providing a proper back-of-house facilities and management team; The planning, programming, and execution of the actual events are handled by the venue lessees, promoters, and their teams,” the owners said.

Neither Uncle N Me LLC nor The Harmonie Club immediately responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
