Bride Kicks Out Bridesmaid from Wedding, Keeps Everyone Else in Shared Friend Group: ‘Flabbergasted, Hurt So Bad’
"I felt so ostracized," the ex-bridesmaid said of being the only friend excluded. "It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through."
A bride kicked her best friend out of her wedding party but didn't penalize anyone else from their shared friend group after they got into an argument about room arrangements.
In a video posted on TikTok on Jan. 16, user @rebeccapousma explained why the bride — whom she was a bridesmaid for and had been friends with for 15 years — suddenly dropped her from her wedding. To make matters worse, the bride never had a conversation with her in person about the issue before unexpectedly banning her from her big day.
"I never thought our friendship was on the line," the TikToker said. "I thought we were fine and just bickered like we normally do."
Before the nuptials, the two women got into a disagreement about the rooming situation. The "affluent" bride would be staying at an expensive hotel for three nights. Her family offered to pay for one night of the bridesmaids' hotel rooms. However, problems arose after some bridesmaids wanted four people to a room (two bridesmaids and their plus-ones) instead of just two bridesmaids in order to "split the cost and have it be cheaper for everyone."
Originally, the TikToker — who was not allowed a plus-one because she was single — was paired up with the groom's sister. The two were asked to split a room with another bridesmaid and her fiancé. This was okay with the group and bride — until a month later.
"We were told by the bride via group text that we were not allowed to share rooms anymore, even though she told us it was okay a month prior," the woman said.
This led to arguments about affordability in relation to room arrangements between her and the bride. With them always being "so close" and fighting "like sisters," she never thought this would be "the straw that broke the camel's back."
"I sent a text saying I didn't like how this was handled because the bride had accused us of not taking her feelings into account and we were just beyond confused as to why we couldn't split $1,200 by four people instead of two," the poster explained.
The bride didn't text her back. Instead, she called her two weeks later to tell her "I can't have you in my wedding anymore."
The ex-bridesmaid was "flabbergasted, hurt so bad." She was the one to introduce most of the other bridesmaids to the bride, yet they were all still bridesmaids. She had even introduced the bride to the groom. Over the years, their friend groups had become "intertwined" so her being the only one kicked out of the wedding made her feel left out.
"I felt so ostracized and so castrated out. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through," the TikToker said. "I actually think a friendship breakup is harder than a real relationship breakup."
She added: "I felt like the entire friend group was kicking me out and no one else reached out to me."

The ex-best friends didn't speak for nine months. The next time they saw one another was at a mutual friend's bachelorette party. Since then, they have had multiple conversations about the downfall of their friendship, but have been unable to reconcile.
"It was hard. It was really, really hard. When I see her, 'cause we share mutual friends now, it is still really hard to see her and be around her," the ex-bridesmaid admitted. "You're reminded of the good and then you're also reminded that this is not a safe person. A real friend wouldn't have done that to you."
She concluded: "I don't have it in myself to maintain a friendship with somebody that kicked me out of their wedding."
