On the way to their destination wedding, a couple ended up on the same flight as 30 of their guests.

When bride Bailey Pawlowski, 26, and groom Sam Mortlock, 27, boarded their flight from Orlando, Florida, to Cancun, Mexico, they saw more than a quarter of their wedding guests seated on the plane. "POV: You had a destination wedding and you ended up on a flight with 30 of your guests," Pawlowski titled a video from the JetBlue flight on TikTok.

The couple were on their way to their luxury beachfront wedding venue, Villa La Joya, in Playa Del Carmen. They would tie the knot on Nov. 2 surrounded by 110 members of their closest friends and family.

Pawlowski admits she knew that 30 of her wedding guests would be on the same early morning flight as her, noting that a few of them are actually JetBlue employees.

"Having so many guests on our flight made it so fun!" Pawlowski exclusively tells PEOPLE. "It was a special moment knowing all of our family and friends were headed off to Mexico for one of the best weekends of our lives."

She continues, "We got to mingle with some of our guests sitting next to us and even had a meeting with our officiant who is a close friend of ours to discuss details of the ceremony. Of course, we had mimosas to start the trip off!"

During the flight, an announcement was made to congratulate the couple. The pilot knew Pawlowski and Mortlock because he's neighbors with the bride's parents.

The newlyweds met in the sixth grade in 2009 at East Ridge Middle School in Clermont, Florida. The two were in gym class when Mortlock picked his future wife to be on his soccer team. Thirteen years later on July 31, 2022, Mortlock popped the question to Pawlowski.

"It was a complete surprise!" Pawlowski recalls of her proposal two years ago at Winter Park, Florida. "He got my best friends in on it, and had them act like we were going to take pictures somewhere so we needed to dress up and get ready. They got me all ready, and then drove me to the surprise location where he was waiting with all my family who were hiding in the bushes or behind trees."
