Yahoo Lifestyle Bride Angry at Her Co-Worker After the Woman Showed Up in a Floor-Length White Gown and Didn’t Bring a Gift

Stock image of bridesA bride says she was “put off” when she found out her co-worker showed up to her wedding in white and without a gift.
The 29-year-old shared in a post on Reddit's popular "Am I the A------?" thread that she had invited her co-worker, who she had been friends with and known for about a year and a half, to her wedding, but was shocked at her choice of attire for the event.
“I couldn't help but notice that my co-worker that I invited was wearing a floor-length white dress at the wedding,” the bride wrote on Reddit.
“I didn't say anything, but I was very taken aback,” she continued. “Especially since I had vocally told her the dress code after she asked me and it was on our wedding website.”
She said her maid of honor “commented” on her co-worker’s wardrobe of choice, but the bride “just let it go” because she “didn’t want it to put a damper on my big day.” However, things got much worse a few days later when she realized that the same co-worker did not give them “anything” on the wedding day.
“I fully understand not everyone is in the best place to give a gift, but I still think giving at least a card saying ‘congratulations’ that cost maybe a dollar would be an appropriate thing to do,” she wrote. “It has nothing to do with being materialistic but just the principle of the matter.”
The woman noted in an update that she knew her co-worker wasn’t struggling financially as she had “been vocal in the past about how much her husband makes and how she chooses to work, but doesn't have to.”

The 29-year-old said that she was “a little baffled and put off by the whole thing” since she considered her co-worker a friend that she wanted “to be there” on her and her husband’s special day. The woman then asked for some advice on how to handle the situation.
“Would I be an a------ if I confronted her about this or should I just let it go? I don't want to come off as crass,” she said.
Several people suggested that she not confront her co-worker about the gift as the wedding was already in the past. One person wrote, “Confronting her now could create unnecessary drama. Just distance yourself and focus on the positive aspects of your wedding. Her choices reflect on her, not you.”
Another commenter agreed saying, “confronting her is [a] lose lose [situation].” They continued, “You'll look petty and present hungry… Let it go. And, next time she invites you to a birthday or party or a wedding, simply reciprocate and forget the card and present.”
“The wedding’s already done. If anything, she made herself look bad with what she chose to wear. And it does seem petty that you’re going to confront her for not giving a gift or card,” another said, before suggesting that she “back off the friendship.”
The bride thanked everyone for their “insight” on how her “response to this situation would influence the outcome” and shared that it was “very enlightening.” She said she ultimately decided to “distance myself from her and keep our relationship strictly professional from now on.”
