Brian Tee Lands Lead Role In ‘Get Jiro!,’ The Adult Swim Animated Series Based On Anthony Bourdain’s Graphic Novels

EXCLUSIVE: Brian Tee (Expats, Chicago Med) is set to lead the voice cast of Adult Swim’s Get Jiro!, a TV series based on the New York Times bestselling DC/Vertigo graphic novels from writers Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose, with artwork by Langdon Foss and Alé Garza.

The half-hour animated series is set in a not-too-distant future L.A. where master chefs rule the town and people literally kill for a seat at the best restaurants. A mysterious sushi master named Jiro enters a bloody culinary war and begins to craft his recipe for revenge.

The Get Jiro! TV series is created by Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka (Sharper, Superstore) and is produced for Adult Swim by Warner Bros Animation. The project received a series order in June.

Tee recently wrapped shooting as the lead villain in Prime Video’s Reacher for Season 3. Before that, he starred opposite Nicole Kidman in the limited series Expats — playing the husband of Nicole Kidman’s character — directed by Lulu Wang also for Prime Video.

He is best known for his eight seasons as Dr. Ethan Choi, on NBC’s hit drama Chicago Med, produced by Dick Wolf; he won a 2020 NAMIC Vision Award for Best Performance in a Drama Series for his work. Although Tee has not reprised the role again, he has returned to the procedural as a director twice in Seasons 8 and 9.

On the big screen, Tee starred as “D.K. The Drift King,” in Universal’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift; “Noburo Mori” in Fox’s hit The Wolverine; and “Hamada,” the head of park security, in Universal and Amblin’s Jurassic World. He also played the villain “Shredder” in Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

Tee is repped by Authentic Talent & Literary Management, Verve and Behr Abramson Levy Johnson.
