Kate Hudson and daughter RaniEven though Mindy Kaling created her new series Running Point, there was another boss on set — Kate Hudson's daughter.
Kaling, Hudson and Brenda Song sat down with Entertainment Tonight to chat about their new TV series, which premieres on Thursday, Feb. 27 on Netflix, and shared that although their kids weren't all able to visit set, Hudson's daughter Rani, 6, was able to join — and had some opinions.
"One of my favorite moments with Kate and Rani…Rani had headphones on, she came over and she goes, ‘Mom, I didn’t really like that last take,' " Song, 36, said with a laugh. "She would give us notes. It was the best."
“It was unbelievable,” Hudson, 45, replied. “It’s like full-on.”

“She was like, ‘Mom,’ ” Hudson continued, shaking her head and imitating Rani's disappointment. “It was so funny.”
As Kaling, Hudson and Song laughed, Song added: “She was like, ‘I heard you had two boys. She was like, oh my god, she ran that set."
Hudson shares her daughter with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. She is also mom to son Ryder, 21, whom she shares with ex Chris Robinson, and son Bingham, 13, whom she shares with ex Matt Bellamy.
This past October, Hudson shared a sweet post on Instagram to celebrate her youngest child turning 6 years old. In the carousel of photos, the star included a look at her daughter Rani’s birthday festivities, along with recent snaps of her with friends and family.
"My beautiful, fun, courageous, caring, empathetic, silly, happy lady," she captioned the post. "6 years have flown 🦋 we celebrate your joie de vivre! Today and everyday! Libra Lady 🎂🎈Happy happy birthday 🎊."
In May, Hudson opened up to PEOPLE about her blended family. "It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside I feel like we're killing it," she said of co-parenting.
"The unit that I've created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it's ours," she went on.
Hudson said son Ryder is "very happy" in college and she and Robinson "just need to check in once in a while." As for Bellamy, the actress said he is "so wonderful" and she "couldn't have asked for a better co-parent."
