There’s only one thing I love more than a good midday snack and that is a tasty spread to enjoy along with it. Whether I’m housing an entire sleeve of crackers with my lunch or holding myself over till dinner with a restaurant-worthy appetizer (in my mind it always is), Boursin remains one of my choice ingredients for elevating a meal.

For nearly seven decades, Boursin has captivated the taste buds of cheese lovers everywhere with soft creamy spreads curated to the tune of Garlic & Fine Herbs, Basil & Chive, and Cracked Black Pepper just to name a few. And with seasonal releases such as Fig & Balsamic and Caramelized Onion & Herbs, the possibilities as to how one can cook with Boursin are practically endless.

It didn’t take long before I caught wind of a new Boursin flavor on the block. Boasting rich creamy flavor and bursts of garlic and rosemary, Boursin's Rosemary & Black Garlic cheese has been quick to grab my attention. And since I have still yet to get my hands on a sample, I recently turned to my experienced colleagues at Simply Recipes for the inside scoop.

“As a long-time Boursin lover, I was so excited to try its new limited edition cheese,” Editorial Assistant Munni Pramanik says, “And let me say, it did not disappoint!”

In terms of consistency, Munni describes the cheese as “deliciously smooth” with a “delicate, garlicky flavor” that packs “little bursts of rosemary” in each bite. She describes bits of rosemary as a “pleasant surprise,” regarding their flavor as a “once-in-a-bite moment.” However, she does admit to wishing the black garlic flavor was a “bit more pronounced.”

Associate Social Director Brook Schuldt is also ecstatic when the topic of the new flavor comes up. Brooke recalls an incredible “depth of flavor” within each bite that was also met with a sharp punch from the black garlic. “It was creamy and delicious, but also complex,” she says.

Both suggest using the new cheese spread as you would any other Boursin flavor—in small doses on an appetizer table. “I would absolutely put this on a cheese board, but I think this would also elevate sandwiches like a classic tomato sandwich,” Brooke says.

Munni, on the other hand, mentions going the “simple route” with “pretzel crisps and some raw vegetable sticks as a quick snack.” She also uses it as a smear on some sourdough while making a turkey and tomato sandwich, which is where my mind was originally heading personally.

All in all, Boursin hit the nail on the head with Rosemary & Black Garlic cheese. I only hope my local grocery store has it in stock by the time I visit so I can enjoy it for myself once and for all.
