The 2025 Oscars brought together the biggest names in fashion. From Mikey Madison's win-ready custom Dior ensemble to Ariana Grande's Glinda-fied Schiaparelli design with 190,000 crystals, Whoopi Goldberg's liquid water fairytale Christian Siriano gown, and all of the best-dressed men (hello, Colman Domingo, Timothée Chalamet, and Jeff Goldblum), the annual awards show delivered sartorially.

But, uh, how does one decide what to wear to the most glamorous night in showbiz? For Boman Martinez-Reid, a brown tuxedo was a no-brainer. The TikTok and social media superstar known for his viral celebrity impressions, not to mention a starring role in his own TV show, Made For TV, traveled from his home base of Toronto to Los Angeles to serve as InStyle's official Oscars correspondent for the night.

Shot in a comedic, satirical format inspired by the journalism of, say, Martin Bashir and the you-had-to-be-there aesthetic of this brand's very own "get ready with me" content, Martinez-Reid produced a few social videos that offer a true glimpse at the chaos that ensues on Oscars night. (Visit InStyle's Instagram and TikTok to see them all).

To prepare to hit L.A.'s Dolby Theater, Martinez-Reid dolled up at the W Hollywood, where he sipped Champagne and posed for photos as stylist Benjamin Holtrop helped him into his Stile Latino suit, jewels by LAGOS accessories, and ALDO loafers. (Photographer Addison O'Connor snapped the images, while Roya Eftekari swept in as videographer.)

"I love the element of surprise that comes along with red carpets," he says. "You never really know what people are going to wear when they show up to the carpet."

"Acting has always been my passion and remains my end goal," he says. "The Oscars is a night to celebrate our collective love of film and storytelling. I always walk away from the Oscars feeling inspired and energized to tackle my dreams."

His Personal Style

"My sense of style benefits from my intersectionality—my masculine and feminine energy, as well as my Blackness and queerness," he says. "I definitely love a baggy, boyish silhouette, but I love to get creative with the details: fun jewelry, painting my nails, experimenting with my hair, etc."

"My stylist and I worked together to figure out how I would like to best represent myself at the Oscars this year. I want to be self-aware that I am not a nominee while also still looking tasteful and chic," he says. "I want to stay mindful as to why I was invited to the function. But, of course, I want to look better than every other guy there...duh. We went with this very chic brown suit with this subtle lace detail. I think this was a nice way to show up, but not draw too much attention."

His Glam

"You’re looking at him! I did my makeup all by myself. I actually learned how to do a simple boy makeup look after shooting my TV show, Made For TV," he says. "I remember coming home feeling so handsome before I took my makeup off. I was like, 'I need to figure out how to do this!’"

His Getting-Ready Playlist

Addison O'Connor

Addison O'Connor

"Depends on the event. For something as big as the Oscars, 'Abracadabra' by Lady Gaga was played several times."

Highlight of the Night

"I am so excited to see Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande perform tonight. Wicked was such an amazing film, and the soundtrack has been on repeat in my car. Seeing them perform will be like witnessing history."

Who He Hopes to See

"I hope I run into Oprah, and something tells me I just might. I don’t know."

His Style Icons

Addison O'Connor

"I listen to a lot of '90s and 2000s R&B, so my style influence comes from the stars of that time," he says. "However, currently, I look to people like Alton Mason, Troye Sivan, and Lil Nas X for direction."

His Favorite Designers

"I l-o-o-o-ve Acne! I feel so cool in their clothes. I also love Le Pere and Jacquemus. From afar, I love Louise Trotter," he says of the newest design lead at Bottega Veneta. "But, I also really stay true to my roots—Abercrombie. I love what they’ve done with the brand and how their menswear fits."

His Favorite Beauty Products

"I love my Nude Stix blush and my MAC serum-based foundation."

His After-Party Plans

How He Unwinds

"Recently, my girlfriends and I went to a Nordic spa just north of Toronto," he says. "Imagine this outdoor spa in the middle of a snowy forest with hot pools, saunas, and steam rooms. I walked away with my limbs feeling like jell-o. I would unwind like that every day if I could!"
