'Held hostage': Body language expert claims Prince Harry seems 'trapped' and 'awkward'

A body language expert has claimed Prince Harry appeared "trapped" and "awkward" during a video call earlier this week where he said the Commonwealth needed to acknowledge its "past wrongs".

The comments were made during a virtual meeting with wife Meghan Markle and global young leaders from the Queen's Commonwealth Trust, which was made public this week.

In the video, Prince Harry said the Commonwealth, which is, of course, lead by his grandmother the Queen, needs to follow the example of others who have "acknowledged the past" and are "trying to right [their] wrongs".

"When you look across the Commonwealth, there is no way that we can move forward unless we acknowledge the past,” he said.

"So many people have done such an incredible job of acknowledging the past and trying to right those wrongs, but I think we all acknowledge there is so much more still to do.

"It's not going to be easy and in some cases it's not going to be comfortable, but it needs to be done, because, guess what, everybody benefits," he added.

Body language expert Judi James has told the Daily Mail, that Prince Harry looked "awkward", noting he "spoke down to the floor" throughout the conversation. She added that his position at the far side of the frame made it appear as though he was "trapped".

Many social media users agreed, saying the video made them "uncomfortable" with some going as far as to say Prince Harry looked like he was being "held hostage" during the call.

However, others disagreed with the wild accusations, calling out social media trolls.

“Oh y'all just can't help yourselves can you... Harry seems just fine... happy actually & tanned! Harry was trapped by the Royal family, now he's free to say & do as he pleases & that just pisses you off doesn't it,” one person wrote.

Judi believes that after Harry made his comments about the Commonwealth's "past wrongs" he seemed to immediately "reflect" on his comments, appearing to suddenly realise the impact of the words he'd just spoken.

"Meghan is mesmerising but Harry either repeats her words or adds a "Yeah" after she makes a point," Judi said.

"Unlike his wife, who adopts the solid eye-gaze that suggests active listening and devotion while he does speak, Harry even looks slightly awkward, gazing to his right and out of shot as she speaks before looking down at the floor."
