The movie is the sequel to 2018's A Simple Favor, a thriller that follows single mom Stephanie (Kendrick) and her glamorous friend Emily (Lively). In the trailer for the follow-up film, the duo reunite for a wedding in Capri, Italy, where it seems their dramatic push-and-pull "friendship" will continue apace.

After filing multiple lawsuits, the pair are currently preparing for their day in court, which is set for March 9, 2026.
Kendrick, meanwhile, is "not used to being caught up in any drama" and was reportedly "upset" by the online negativity surrounding the film, as some fans pledged to not to see the movie because of Lively. "The comments on Instagram have upset her, especially the ones saying fans are now refusing to watch the movie because they don’t want to support Blake," an insider told People.
As for her supposed feud with Lively, however, it seems the pair have successfully put the rumors to rest. “There is no drama,” a source recently told E! News. “They are not enemies. They are coworkers; friends and get along well.”
