Yahoo Lifestyle Blackpink’s Lisa Talks Her White Lotus Acting Debut, Mook’s Romance and Singing on the Show — Watch Video
The White Lotus is used to welcoming some high-profile guests, but this season, they actually have a music superstar on staff.
Lalisa Manobal — aka Lisa, from the massively popular K-pop girl group Blackpink — is making her acting debut on Season 3 of the HBO dramedy (airing Sundays at 9/8c) as Mook, a friendly employee at the White Lotus resort in Thailand. In the video above, Lisa tells TVLine how her time staying in five-star hotels with Blackpink helped inform her role as Mook, as she observed the hotel staff and “the way they talk to the guests. They love small talk!”

Plus, Lisa’s co-star Tayme Thapthimthong, who plays security guard Gaitok, explains the origins of his character’s crush on Mook and their long history together: “When you’re born on a small island, everyone does know each other.” This may be Lisa’s first acting gig, but Tayme insists “she’s a natural in front of the camera. She just has that rhythm.” In fact, she ended up helping him with his Thai dialogue, since he actually hails from London.
Lisa also teases that Mook does some dancing this season, but she’s not letting it slip yet if she sings this season as well.
