Bette Midler wants to play Melissa's mom on “Abbott Elementary”: 'If you see Quinta Brunson, please tell her'
The sitcom has its fair share of star-studded cameos.
Attention, Quinta Brunson: Bette Midler would like to be added to the roll call of famous folks who've walked the halls of Abbott Elementary.
Midler has once again used social media to pitch herself for a role, this time putting in the request to play the mother of Lisa Ann Walter's no-nonsense Melissa Schemmenti in the sitcom, which centers on a group of dedicated educators at a Philadelphia public school. "If you see Quinta Brunson, please tell her," the actress and Broadway star wrote.
Brunson, series creator and star, and Walter have yet to engage with the post and didn't immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment on Monday.
Since I'm now using this website to pitch myself on TV shows, I would also like to play Melissa Schemmenti's mother on "Abbott Elementary." If you see Quinta Brunson, please tell her.

Mama Schemmenti has not yet appeared on the series but Melissa's younger sister Kristin Marie, a teacher at a rival school played by Lauren Weedman, has popped up a few times. Taraji P. Henson and Ayo Edebiri notably guest starred as Janine's (Brunson) mom and sister, respectively, while cameos during the current season 3 have so far included Questlove, Keegan-Michael Key, Bradley Cooper, and Tatyana Ali.
Midler most recently expressed an interest in appearing on the Real Housewives franchise on social media. "Is it too late for me to become a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills?" she asked. "I’ve never watched it, but I am in the mood to talk some s---. And to get paid for it? A dream!" The inquiry received support from Andy Cohen and the official Bravo account.
Talk about a glorious crossover 😉💎
