Best Makeup at Golden Globes 2025
The best way to accessorize a red dress? An even redder lip, of course.
Just ask Dakota Fanning, who arrived at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards sporting a bold red lip to match her couture Tony Ward gown, which featured a thigh-high slit and was coupled with a sheer neck scarf, all in the same vibrant hue.

Nominated for Best Female Supporting Actor for her role in the Netflix miniseries, “Ripley,” Fanning was primped by makeup artist Erin Ayanian Monroe and hairstylist Jenda Alcorn, as was her sister, Elle, who similarly opted for a statement lip but in a pink-reddish shade.
Key to both Fanning sisters’ looks of the night was a cat-eye flick, also seen on attendees including Cristin Milioti, who offered up an extra-smoky iteration; resident Catwoman Zoë Kravitz and Nava Mau, who opted for an ultra-elongated flick.
Bronzy-nude makeup was in full force on the red carpet as well, from Quinta Brunson‘s brown-toned lip and eye look to Miley Cyrus’ über-sculpted cheekbones. The night’s host Nikki Glaser donned a glowy tan done by makeup artist Jenna Kristina, who used Naked Sundays product to achieve the look and paired it with a glossy nude lip to boot.
Cynthia Erivo, nominated for her role as Elphaba in “Wicked,” had a sultry but soft glow courtesy of makeup artist Joanna Simkin using Benefit Cosmetics, who wrote in an email to WWD: “Cynthia’s dress inspired our look tonight. The silhouette and sparkles were so striking, I wanted her to look soft and fresh, with sultry eyes and soft lips. A true ‘movie star’ moment.
