Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson is returning to 'Law & Order: Organized Crime'Longtime Law & Order fans will find a lot to like about the trailer that just dropped for the fifth season of the Organized Crime series, particularly the appearance of the one and only Mariska Hargitay. Her Olivia Benson shows up in the hospital room of her former partner Elliott Stabler, who's played by Christopher Meloni.
"Elliott," she calls out to him, but he remains unresponsive. The two famously worked together to catch sex offenders on the show where she remains full-time: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which premiered in 1999. Meloni left the cast in 2011, and he's starred as Stabler on Organized Crime since that series' 2021 debut.

Hargitay's Benson appears on the second episode of the season, which will air as part of a two-episode premiere on April 17.
The reason Stabler is hospitalized in the first place appears to be a horrific, action movie-style car crash that occurred after he was instructed to go undercover. No surprise that he said he would "do what needs to be done."
According to the network behind the series, the show's fifth season "explores the dangerous worlds of cross-border smuggling, high-tech domestic terrorism, and a crime family intent on repaying Stabler for the injury he did them in Rome. As his worlds collide, Stabler will put everything on the line to protect the vulnerable and fight for justice."

Benson reunites with StablerThe appearance by Hargitay's Benson will air on the same night that SVU has one of the franchise's crossover events, this one with the flagship Law & Order series. On that two-hour event, audiences will see investigators from both shows looking into the rapes and murders of marginalized women. The ADA from SVU, Dominick Carisi, Jr. (Peter Scanavino), and L&O's ADA Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy) will then team up to prosecute the suspect.

Meloni told PEOPLE in August that he would write the second episode of this season and that Benson would "be with OC for a moment there." He teased that he would have the opportunity to "peel away a little bit more of the onion or uncover a little more depth of feeling between them."
Law & Order: Organized Crime will premiere its season five on NBC at 10 p.m. ET/PT, with additional episodes released weekly on Peacock. The Law & Order/Law & Order: Special Victims Unit crossover will air on NBC from 8-10 p.m. ET/PT on April 17.
