Benny Blanco Makes Bold Taylor Swift Admission

It seems Selena Gomez has been a major influence on her fiancé, Benny Blanco—at least as far as his musical taste is concerned.

During their joint appearance on the most recent episode of Hot Ones, Blanco opened up about how Gomez helped him learn to appreciate the music of her longtime pal, Taylor Swift.

“I honestly didn’t know...before we started dating, like obviously, I was aware of Taylor Swift’s music,” Blanco explained as Gomez dabbed at her mouth with a red napkin.

“But I wasn’t like a true Swiftie until I was with [Selena]," he continued. "And now I’ll be like, ‘Put that song on. How’s that one go again?’ And we’re in the car, and I’m like, ‘Wow I’m just singing Taylor Swift songs from 10 years ago and I feel free.'”

“They’re timeless,” Gomez agreed.

On the same episode, Blanco and Gomez opened up about working on their joint album, I Said I Love You First, debuting on Friday, March 21.

“I felt like I could tell him things that maybe I was feeling insecure about that I wouldn’t feel like I could open up to any other producer that way, let alone like a partner," Gomez said.

“When you work with people, sometimes you butt heads," Blanco said, adding, "Every time one of us had a discrepancy on something, the other one was like, ‘Oh OK, yeah that’s chill.’ And we also got to make [the album] in our house, in our bedroom. It just felt low stakes.”

One thing the pair didn't agree on, however, was whether or not couples should take on the Hot Ones challenge together.

“I feel like I would’ve crumbled without her,” Blanco said.

“You did crumble," Gomez argued. "Couples, don’t play this game.”
