Whether you’re prepping for a holiday cookie swap or baking goodies for the family at home, chances are high you’ve got a favorite Christmas cookie. (And if you don’t yet, we’ve got 70-plus great Christmas cookie recipes to choose from!) Personally speaking, I’ll never turn down millionaire's shortbread or a chocolate-peppermint crinkle, though I know others reach for mini gingerbread men or almond biscotti.

So what sweet treats are HGTV stars Erin and Ben Napier snacking on come the holiday season? Ahead of the new season of Home Town, I caught up with the couple on their favorite Christmas traditions, and Ben’s favorite Christmas cookie has me roaring with laughter.

“My favorites are called cat shit cookies, but you can’t say that in Country Living,” he shares. (Ben, I talked with my editor, and we’re giving you a pass on this one. 😊)

“My mom made them the Christmas we met, and now we do them every year,” Erin explains. “No one likes them but Ben.”

So what exactly are these silly-sounding sweets? Also known in certain corners of Pinterest as kitty crap cookies or kitty litter cookies, Ben’s beloved treat are a chewy mix of chocolate, oats, and peanut butter. They come together quickly and, best of all, don’t require any time in the oven.

“No-bake cookies is what the classy people call them,” Erin says with a laugh. And if you, too, want to inject a little laughter into your holiday this year, head on over to our round-up of favorite no-bake desserts for a similar no-bake cookie recipe.

You can tune into season eight (part 2!) of Home Town on Sunday, December 29 on HGTV. Past seasons of Home Town are available to stream now on Max and discovery+ and the new episodes will be available to stream on December 30.
