Beef is back on the menu!

Netflix has officially ordered a second season of the critically acclaimed anthology series created by Lee Sung Jin. Season 1 was a major hit due to Steven Yeun and Ali Wong's performances as Danny Cho and Amy Lau — two strangers who let a road rage incident spiral into an all-out revenge war.

Now, season 2 will showcase a brand-new story about two feuding couples, per Deadline. The second installment of Beef will also feature an entirely different cast, including Dune's Oscar Isaac and Priscilla's Cailee Spaeny.

"I always thought a show called 'Beef ' — where every season there are new characters [and] there’s new 'beef' — would be fun," Lee Sung Jin told Variety in May 2024.

From the star-studded cast to filming details, here’s everything to know about Beef season 2.

Netflix shared details about the Beef season 2 plot in October 2024.

According to the show's official logline, the upcoming season will follow a "young couple who witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner."

After the first season won big at the Emmys, Jin told The Hollywood Reporter that he was already creating storylines for season 2.

“I think Beef will just by its title always have [conflict] simmering underneath,” he said. “But in terms of what the other layers could be, that’s something that I’d really need to take some time and see deep inside what wants to come out.”

Unveiled by Netflix in October 2024, Beef season 2 features a star-studded cast, including Scenes from a Marriage's Oscar Isaac; Maestro's Carey Mulligan; Riverdale's Charles Melton; Civil War's Cailee Spaeny; and Minari's Youn Yuh-jung.

Based on the season 2 description, fans have guessed that Melton and Spaeny will play the young couple who see an older couple, made up of Isaac and Mulligan, fighting to kick off the season's drama.

"It’s some of the best stuff I’ve ever read ... I’m very excited," Melton said while speaking to actress Greta Lee about Beef in August 2024 for VMAN.

Lee Sung Jin will return as the show's creator, showrunner and executive producer. He will be joined by Jake Schreier, who also worked on Beef season 1. The series' second season, which will consist of eight 30-minute episodes, will also count season 1 stars Wong and Yeun among its executive producers.

While speaking to Variety in May 2024, Jin recalled feeling "so underwater" while wearing several hats on the set of Beef.

"It’s a lot. There’s never enough time in the day for all of the things that need to get done, especially in TV. When you’re writing, directing and showrunning, every second of every day counts," he said.

Jin won three Emmy Awards for the show in 2023, including outstanding directing for a limited or anthology series or movie. Before starting on Beef season 2, the director wrapped filming on Marvel's Thunderbolts.
