Barefoot Angelina Jolie Continues Her Understated Elegance Streak in Maxidress for ‘Jimmy Fallon’ Appearance, Talks ‘Maria’ Movie

Angelina Jolie continued her understated elegance sartorial streak during her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday in New York City. The actress discussed her forthcoming film “Maria” and revealed why she opted to go barefoot for her late-night talk show appearance.

For the occasion, Jolie wore a simple black maxidress with a round neckline. The “Girl, Interrupted” Oscar-winning actress’ sleeveless dress also featured a seamless, A-line design, creating an effortless silhouette.

When it came to her accessories, Jolie opted for very few. The actress favored a pair of simple earrings and a few delicate rings, forgoing any other pieces of jewelry. As for her glam, Jolie’s brunette hair with blond highlights was styled in a sleek, straight and down look with a side part. Her makeup featured a clean aesthetic, save for a hint of a smokey eye.

Upon her arrival to “The Tonight Show” stage, host Jimmy Fallon commented on Jolie’s lack of footwear, to which she provided her reasoning for going barefoot. “I broke my toe yesterday,” Jolie said. “And I tried to find a comfortable shoe,” she said, adding that she ultimately “decided” to go barefoot.

Jolie’s appearance on “The Tonight Show,” her first late-night talk show interview in years, also marked the actress’ latest stop on her promotional tour for “Maria.” Throughout her time promoting the film thus far, Jolie consistently gravitates toward understated but elegant looks — the sartorial antithesis of her dramatic role in “Maria.”

The Tom Ford Beauty celebrity spokesmodel previously wore similar looks to her “Tonight Show” attire, including a streamlined menswear-inspired suit at the London Film Festival last October and a monochrome black ensemble for a screening of “Maria” in New York City last November.

Jolie plays iconic opera singer Maria Callas in the Pablo Larraín-directed biopic. The film follows Maria through the last days of her life living in 1970s Paris, as she looks back on her memories and time in the spotlight. “Maria” hits Netflix on Wednesday.
