MasterChef favourite joins cast of Australian Survivor: Blood vs Water

After weeks of speculation, Channel Ten has finally announced the cast of the upcoming season of Australian Survivor: Blood vs Water.

The show, which will see participants going up against their loved ones to win $500,000 in a first for the Aussie franchise, features a number of familiar faces heading to rural Queensland to try and outwit, outplay and outlast.

Among the cast are a MasterChef fan favourite contestant, an ex-NRL player, a married couple who met and fell in love on the show in 2017, Home and Away star Sam Frost’s younger brother, and a two-time champion of the game.

Meet the contestants:

Alex Frost and Jay Bruno - In-Laws

The duo first became friends when Jay started dating Alex’s older sister Sam Frost, and have stayed close following their split last year.

While Jay has previously appeared on reality TV competing on Channel Seven’s Instant Hotel, Alex is a Survivor super fan and hopes to fly under the radar secretly making moves.

Amy Ong and Khanh Ong - Siblings

Khanh Ong, who’s competed on MasterChef twice, has a burning desire to win the title of Sole Survivor and will do whatever it takes.

His charming and disarming sister Amy is ready to make a name for herself after living in her older brother’s shadow.

After appearing on Australian Survivor: Champions vs. Contenders and being 12th voted out, professional poker player Andy is ready for his shot at redemption.

Kate, who pushed her brother to apply for the show in 2019, is hoping to make her own mark on the game.

Standing at 6’4”, Ben is hoping to be a challenge beast this season and become someone that the tribe trusts.

Shayelle, who’s also keen for the physical aspect of the game, describes herself as “physically strong, socially adaptable and certainly not one to back away from a challenge”.

Chrissy Zaremba and Michael ‘Croc’ Crocker - In-Laws

Former NRL player Michael ‘Croc’ Crocker hopes to use his brute physical strength to his advantage and make big moves to eliminate his biggest threats.

While she isn’t a super fan of the game, Chrissy is confident and competitive and wants to prove to her children that they can do anything.

David Goodchild and Briana Goodchild - Father & Daughter

Briana says her dad David is the skull crusher, the guy who is going to lay down the law, while she is the entertainer and social butterfly.

Survivor might be Briana’s dream, but David is pumped for the experience and believes their strong relationship and ambitious natures will help them succeed.

Jesse Hansen and Jordie Hansen - Brothers

Jesse and Jordie claim to be polar opposites of each other, but they’re dedicated to becoming the perfect team.

Jesse is used to intense endurance as a professional triathlete in training, while landscaper Jordie is familiar with digging holes and getting himself out of them.

Jordan Schmidt and Josh Millgate - Cousins

Although they’re cousins, Jordan and Josh say that their relationship is closer than most brothers.

Josh considers himself a Survivor armchair expert, even learning the basics of fire starting before appearing on the show, while Jordan is ready to push himself both physically and mentally.

KJ Austin and Sophie Cachia - Sisters

Sophie, who has an impressive Instagram following of over 250k as a company director, intends to fly under the radar.

Meanwhile, older sister Kate (KJ) is a super fan of the game and comes armed with the knowledge she has taken on after meticulously watching past seasons.

Since meeting on season two of Australian Survivor, Mark and Sam fell in love, married in 2019 and now have a child.

Ex-SAS commander Mark hopes to improve his social game this time around, while Sam doesn’t have a game plan and wants to adapt to the people she’s playing with.

Mel Chiang and Michelle Chiang - Identical Twins

Mel and Michelle share a ‘twin connection’ where they know what each other are thinking and can even feel each other’s pain.

Super fan Mel wears her heart on her sleeve and is a keen strategist, while Michelle prides herself on catching people out in their lies.

Sandra Diaz-Twine and Nina Twine - Mother & Daughter

After appearing five times in the US franchise and becoming the first person to win the show twice, Sandra is ready to take on Australian Survivor and defend her international Survivor throne.

Her daughter Nina, who’s never played the game before, says she’s ready for a challenge and doesn’t feel intimidated by her mother’s legacy.
