Australian Shepherd Becomes Sword Fighting Sensation Blending Both Brains and Brawn
Some dogs instinctively know how to guard their people, and they'll do anything to protect them. One Australian Shepherd named Lady Pinto Bean won't just alert her pet parents of an intruder, she'll go to battle for them—with her very own sword (yes, a sword!). Sure it's all pretend, but it's still the cutest thing to watch.
The recent Instagram video shared by Anna, Luke and Lady PintoBean (@mistymountainlegends) shows the talented pup doing what she does best—play sword fighting—and it's magnificent. Watch her get at it!
"Sword dog origin story: (Fun fact: that clip of her looting Anna’s body is the very first time she picked up a sword!)," the caption reads.
"First, she watched," the video begins as the Shepherd sits near her pet parents who pretend to sword fight. She's so excited, hoping to have a chance to join in.
"Then, she trained and claimed her first sword," the video continues, showing Lady Pinto Bean practicing how to use a sword with Mom. Spoiler alert—she's amazing!
The video concludes with, "Now, she slays," in a montage of clips highlighting Mom, Dad, and the sword-wielding pup in different scenes as they battle each other in the most dramatic ways. This seriously impressive pup has the internet collectively bowing down before her because she's the Queen of Slaying.
"Imagine being a robber walking into this house, and the guard dog has a sword in its mouth and starts chasing you lmao," one person wrote.
"Shins? Obliterated. Vacuum cord? Severed. Parents? Proud. This pup has one dope resume. Huzzah," another added.
"The lesson: Find your soul people (and pets) then lead an epic life," another said.
Lady Pinto Bean's sword skills are unmatched, so beware if you dare cross her path!

Australian Shepherds Love Learning New Skills
As one of the more driven, working breed dogs with energy to spare, Shepherds like Lady Pinto Bean aren't only willing to learn new skills but they thrive on it. Dogster explains Shepherds are highly intelligent dogs who are easy to train and love to please their people. This goes back to the reason they were originally bred, to herd animals, so they enjoy anything that puts them front and center, garnering them high praise or treats for a job well done.
Teaching these small pups with big personalities tricks (like sword fighting) tap into that stored energy and use it for good. Otherwise, they'll find something to get into and you may not like the end result!
Not every dog can be a total pro like Lady Pinto Bean, but if you have a working breed dog who's ready to learn a new skill, why not give sword fighting a try?!
