August's new moon falls in Leo (12 degrees), an elemental Fire sign that PEOPLE's resident astrologer Kyle Thomas says "will roar throughout our lives" this year. It aligns with romance, creativity, recreation and children — while also "pushes us to express ourselves and shine our light out into the world," he adds.

Though the new moon arrives on Aug. 4, Thomas says its cosmic effects are "most potent" in the seven to 10 days after its rise and "can affect patterns" that will echo for the next six months to one year that follow.

Fortunately, Thomas says this lunation is "an overwhelmingly positive new moon" that is in a degree of "harmony and opportunity" with both Mars (the planet of passion) and Jupiter (the planet of luck). "We will have a vibrant enthusiasm for work and play," he predicts.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

It's time to reflect, Taurus. "You’ll be feeling a true need to dig deep," Thomas puts forth.
